BOARD OF TRUSTEES The Board of Trustees is comprised of seven elected members and the Minister, and serves as the governing body of Unity Church of Christ. Members serve two- or three-year terms. Elections are held annually. Meetings are generally on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 PM. ACTION TEAM This new ministry team was formed as a result of a congregational survey identifying areas of need for further development. The Action Team has initially chosen to address three areas of focus: developing and diversifying Sunday Service music, providing increased opportunities for classes and workshops, and developing new ways for members to connect within the spiritual community. Meetings are monthly. Call the church for more information. UNITY WOMEN’S GUILD The Unity Women’s Guild was established in 1952 with the purpose of providing social and service activities to support the spiritual mission of the church community. Featured events include an annual Christmas Tea on the first Saturday in December (always sold out!), and a Spring Candy Sale on the first Sunday in May. Funds raised have contributed to capital purchases of new sound recording equipment, beautiful oak and beveled glass doors, and numerous other contributions. UNITY PRAYER CHAPLAINS The Unity Prayer Chaplains participate in a comprehensive annual training program to prepare them to serve our congregation through prayer. As they maintain a personal prayer life, the Prayer Chaplains: acknowledge and call on the presence of God; lovingly listen; pray from the heart and hold in confidence what is shared. Prayer Chaplains are available on Sundays to pray with anyone who requests prayer, and during the week via a telephone call to the church. Each member also receives a monthly wellness call from their assigned chaplain. The Prayer Chaplains contribute to our church community by providing a confidential, calming, sacred space for prayer. WORSHIP LEADERS The Worship Leader sets a warm and welcoming tone for the Sunday Celebration Service through spiritual preparation and prayer. During the service, the Worship Leader shares from their heart through their Christ presence and readings of the Daily Word and scripture. Worship Leaders support the theme and the flow of the Sunday Services. HOSTS, USHERS AND GREETERS IN SERVICE (H.U.G.S.) Greeters are the first faces you encounter when you arrive for church on Sunday mornings. These warm and caring men and women welcome you, direct families with children to the nursery and Sunday School classrooms and guide you into the sanctuary. After the services, they connect with you to answer any questions and invite you to return. Ushers greet you as you enter the sanctuary and help seat you while maintaining the quiet of this sacred space. Ushers also assist with the offering collection in a consciousness of love and gratitude. Hospitality is a spiritual gift and a ministry. It is the ability to welcome and graciously serve the spiritual community by helping everyone feel welcome and comfortable in our spiritual home. The role of the Hosts is to create a warm and inviting environment where people can connect with each other after the service and share in enjoyment of delicious repasts. UNITY CHOIR Our Unity Choir is always on the lookout for energetic, spirit-filled singers! To become a part of this dynamic ministry join us at rehearsals. The Unity Choir rehearses every Sunday at 9:30 AM in the Sunday School room. For more information, please call the church or e-mail the Music Director, Arthur Stark at thomstar99@aol.com. |
